Miscellaneous WWW Links
This page contains a list of WWW sites that do not fit elsewhere in the
hierarchy of my site.
Government
- The IRS
actually has a good web site. Once you have the
Adobe Acrobat reader, you can download all of the IRS forms
and print them out on your laser or inkjet printer. It saved me
a few trips down to the post office.
- The Bureau of Justice
Statistics collects plenty of criminal justice information
to quote during your next political argument.
- THOMAS
is the legislative information server for the US Congress. There is
a lot of material here, but navigating this site can be confusing
at times.
Mindless Fun
- Charlie Parker's
Argon Zark! web comic has great-looking artwork and a wild (but
humerous) plot. I only wish pages could come out faster.
- Robix makes
the RCS-6 robot construction set. I don't have one (yet),
but I did order the $3 video. The tape shows some interesting
robot designs and contains a tutorial that gives
a pretty good idea of the set's capabilities.
Weather
- Michigan State University's
weather site has
many great weather maps and raw and processed satellite
imagery for you to download. Be sure to check out the
World Wide Montage -
JPEG (~80 KB) or
GIF (~85 KB).
- CNN also has a good
weather
section that includes forcasts for major US cities and frequently
updated radar and satellite images for the US. This site is
somewhat easier to use than the MSU site described above.
-
Virtual Hawaii
has weather information, several remote camera views and
virtual tours. URL given is for US mainland mirror site.
Maps
- MapQuest has amazingly
complete street maps for the entire continental US.
- The Xerox PARC center's
map server provides a resource that you can call from your
web pages to create maps on the fly. For example, a
map of England.
